The next Camille. For most Coast residents Hurricane Camille was the benchmark against
which all other storms were measured. In the minds of many there was a feeling that at some time another storm would
come that was the equal or worse than Camille. That day came on Monday, August 29, 2005. Camille is often considered
to be the strongest landfalling tropical cyclone on record, with windspeads exceeding 190 mph. Camille made landfall
around Pass Christian, Mississippi on the night of August 17, 1969
