home was nestled on this hill, elevated from the Gulf, it could not escape Katrina's massive storm surge. Unlike New Orleans,
which is almost entirely below sea level, the Mississippi Gulf Coast is mostly above. Severe flooding is typically
rare in most areas, even during hurricanes, but this of course was no ordinary hurricane
